SYMPHONY IN 60 Verdi’s vigorous overture to The Force of Destiny introduces the theme of fate knocking at the door, echoed in the most famous “four notes” ever composed, in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. The destiny of lovers Pelléas and Mélisande unfolds in a languid suite by Fauré. And we welcome guest conductor Thomas Wilkins from the Hollywood Bowl and the Boston Symphony.
