Beethoven's Creatures of Prometheus

January 25, 2020 | 8:00 p.m.

Gonzalo Farias, conductor
The Florida Ballet

The uniquely light and brilliantly colored music Beethoven wrote for his only ballet sets the stage for a collaboration with The Florida Ballet. With the full Jacksonville Symphony on stage, The Florida Ballet dancers bring to life the tale of Prometheus, credited in Greek mythology with bestowing upon humans the gift of fire, stolen from the gods. The Creatures of Prometheus is Beethoven at his most rare –a playful spirit and delicate orchestral colorations in a seldom-heard work.
